Moving to a new home is a blend of excitement, new beginnings, and a touch of organised chaos. Amidst the packing tape and bubble wrap, it is easy to overlook the crucial task of notifying various organisations in Singapore about your change of address. Hiring a good moving company in Singapore allows you to take a step back from the stress of moving, and instead focus on managing the important legal aspects of your house move before you settle into your new routine.
For local citizens, the first and most important step is to inform the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of your new address. You can do this online through ICA's e-Service portal via your Singpass or by visiting their office in person. Make sure to get ready your identification documents, such as your NRIC or passport as well as document proof of your new residential address.

Under the National Registration Act, failing to update your address within the stipulated 28-day period will result in a fine of up to S$5,000 or imprisonment of up to five years, or to both. In addition, failing to update your address can result in missed important communications from government agencies and service providers.
